Reviews contribute greatly to the success of a book. They drive attention and, unfortunately, also the algorithms and metrics that drive many of the online bookselling websites and determine which books visitors see when they visit the website.
Do
- Focus on one thing that you liked about the book. You can certainly share more than one, but chose one if you’re stuck on what to include in your review.
Don’t
- Blame the author for issues involving shipping, packaging, or the quality of the printer. The author (and likely the publisher) have no control over those. Contact customer service rather than giving the author a 1-star review because of an issue completely outside their control.
